Iowa Medical Cannabidiol Board

Good morning, my name is Carl Olsen.

This week Nebraska joined Iowa as the 48th state to authorize federal racketeering organizations to provide cannabis to patients with serious medical conditions.

Meanwhile, the application Iowa filed for waiver of federal registration requirements under Title 21, United States Code, Section 822(d), in April of 2021, goes unanswered by the Drug Enforcement Administration.  Iowa’s response is to do nothing about the lack of an answer from the DEA.

I want to thank the board and staff for the effort that has been made to obtain a federal exemption since the board first approved it in 2019.  I hope that you will continue to support it in your annual report for 2024.  Iowans deserve a response from the DEA.
